Filippo Basile was born at Nissoria, Sicily, about 1844 Confirmed and married Giuseppa Rinaldi there. The couple raised a large family - among them Agostino, Francesco, Giuseppe, Salvatore, Rosa, Giovanni, Emmanuele, Carmela and Francesca Confirmed. He died at Nissoria on 3 September 1892, aged 48 Confirmed, and so did not live to see his sons emigrate.

In the Diocese of Nicosia collection this family's baptisms (children, with Filippo & Giuseppa as parents) and Filippo's death are indexed, but not the ancestral marriages with grandparents named — so Filippo's/Giuseppa's parents don't surface by search (much Agira-namesake noise too). His parents need the Nissoria (San Giuseppe) marriage-register images (~1866-70), i.e. the same image-browse job as the Lo Cascio-side 4× greats.Confirmed

This reconciles the Basile records: 'Cattanea' (Catania) on the 1908 birth certificate is the province; Nissoria (read off the 1906 manifest's place-of-birth column) is the town.
