Hypothesis SURNAME-DISTRIBUTION EVIDENCE FOR CALABRIA. ANDRIACCHI is an exceptionally rare surname - ranked 120,421st on Geneanet, which notes that a name this rare probably originated with a single person, so that all bearers are likely distant cousins. Its recorded distribution is dominated by two CALABRIAN comuni: VIBO VALENTIA (15 individuals) and CARAFFA DI CATANZARO, province of Catanzaro (3). US clusters appear at Ishpeming, Michigan (4), CHICAGO (2) and Cook County (1) - consistent with this family.Hypothesis
This is the first evidence of any kind, from outside the family, pointing the Perino-Andriacchi branch at CALABRIA. It corroborates the chart. TWO CANDIDATE COMUNI to work: Vibo Valentia and Caraffa di Catanzaro.Inherited
[LIMITATION - READ BEFORE RELYING ON THIS] Geneanet is built from USER-SUBMITTED family trees, not from primary records or a census. It is a derivative source and its coverage is skewed towards France and northern Italy. This is a SEARCH-NARROWING HYPOTHESIS, not a confirmation. It tells us where to look first; it does not establish where she was born.Hypothesis
COLLATERAL LEAD, NOT PURSUED: a CATERINA ANDRIACCHI, b. 1890 d. 1972, appears in Geneanet trees. Her birth year is close to Giuseppina's 1888. Possibly a sister - unverified, and recorded only as a lead.Inherited
CONFIRMED - SHE TOO WAS BORN IN SIMBARIO. The Cook County birth certificate of her daughter MARIA ANTONIA PERINO (b. 16 Feb 1913, Chicago, certificate 18739) records BOTH parents' birthplaces as SIMBARIA, ITALY - the father Rocco Perino aged 29, and the mother GIUSEPPINA ANDREACHI aged 25. Husband and wife came from the SAME COMUNE, exactly as the local-marriage argument predicted.Confirmed
HER BIRTH YEAR IS CONFIRMED BY THAT RECORD: aged 25 in February 1913 implies a birth of c.1887-1888. The CHART'S 1888 IS CORRECT - and this is the first independent confirmation of it.Inherited
THE SURNAME-DISTRIBUTION HYPOTHESIS WAS RIGHT. On 22 July 2026 the rare-surname analysis predicted CALABRIA, and specifically the VIBO VALENTIA area, on the strength of the Geneanet distribution. Within the same session a primary document - her husband's WWI draft card - named SIMBARIO, a comune in the province of VIBO VALENTIA. The hypothesis is now superseded by evidence, which is the proper fate of a hypothesis. Recorded because the METHOD earned its place: it is worth repeating on other rare surnames.Hypothesis
SURNAME VARIANTS ATTESTED FOR HER IN US RECORDS: Andriacchi, ANDREACHI (twice), Andreachi, and one badly mangled 'JUCHRICHA'. Forename appears as Giuseppina, Guseppina, Joseppina and Josephine. Search every form.Inherited
NEXT STEP - now unblocked: the civil registers of SIMBARIO are held from 1809 onwards, and the parish registers reach back to the 1600s. Her birth record c.1888 should name HER OWN PARENTS - the chart gives Anthony Andriacchi and Elizabeth Bertucci, both entirely unverified. This is the route to confirming them and to pushing the branch further back.Inherited
DEATH FOUND (Session 69): Josephine Andriacchi Perino, born 15 January 1888, died 8 September 1960, buried St Mary Catholic Cemetery, Evergreen Park (Find a Grave / Archdiocese of Chicago cemetery records) — the same cemetery as Rocco. She predeceased him (his 1971 death record recorded him "widowed").Confirmed
ISHPEMING ANDRIACCHI CLUSTER = intermarried Simbario Andriacchi–Bertucci families (Session 69). The Marquette Co., Michigan censuses show several Simbario-emigrant households, all kin: Domenico Andriacchi (b.1864) × Catherine (children Salvatore, Anthony, Louis, Joseph, Theresa, Francis, Mary); Frank Andriacchi (b.1883) × Angela Bertucci (10+ children incl. Bruno b.1903, Catharine, Dominick, Anthony, Rose, Salvador); and Peter Andriacchi × Catherine Donato. The Andriacchi and Bertucci families clearly intermarried at Simbario/Ishpeming — corroborating the chart's Bertucci maternal line — but no household headed by ANTONIO ANDRIACCHI × ELIZABETH BERTUCCI (Giuseppina's chart parents) isolates cleanly, so her direct siblings are still unconfirmed. (Correction: Bruno Andriacchi, b.1903, is a cousin/nephew — son of Frank × Angela Bertucci — not her brother, despite Giuseppina naming a son Bruno.)Confirmed
NEXT (for her siblings): her Simbario 1888 civil birth record (names Antonio & Elizabeth and situates her among siblings) or her Cook County death certificate (1960) — both would name her exact parents. The US census tangle can't separate her nuclear family from the intermarried Andriacchi–Bertucci kin.Inherited
HER FATHER CONFIRMED & LOCATED (Session 69). The 1940 census shows her father Antonio Andriacchi (indexed "Anthony Adricci," 79, b. ~1861, widower) living in her Chicago household (Ward 11) — the first record to confirm him from outside the family chart. He emigrated and spent his last years with her family; since he was already widowed, Elizabeth Bertucci had died before 1940, which is why no intact parental household appears in the US censuses. His Cook County death record would name his parents and confirm Elizabeth. See [Anthony Andriacchi](AND-002.md).Confirmed
